2013 – Finalists & Winners

EdTech Digest Awards Program 2013 | Raising the Roof

Raising the RoofResults are in for the third annual EdTech Digest Awards Recognition Program honoring tools, trendsetters and leaders in the education and technology sector. The distinguished awards program recognizes outstanding solutions—and the best and brightest minds—in education and technology. This year there was no shortage of either, as entries hit an all-time high. From dozens to hundreds of startups; from blips to billions in venture capital; and from millionaire kindergarten teachers sharing lesson plans to YouTube tutors on the cover of Forbes — the edtech world continues to raise the roof in terms of sheer numbers and activity. Past winners of the EdTech Digest Awards Program have included, among others: Pearson, Epson and McGraw-Hill, as well as emerging solutions providers Panarea Digital, StudySync and StudyBlue. This year’s program features some of the most robust entries ever. In all, more than 200 finalists were named in more than 40 categories, including best:

·     New Product or Service

·     Academic Gaming Solution

·     Emerging Technology Solution

·     Professional Development Solution

·     Product or Service Setting a Trend

·     Leader Setting a Trend

·     and more.

A distinguished panel of industry influencers and veterans conducted this year’s evaluation proceedings. “Our judges are giants among us, having influenced millions through their efforts at improving, advancing and modernizing education,” said Victor Rivero, who oversees the program as Editor in Chief of EdTech Digest. “They are highly-regarded leaders from a variety of experiences, but what they all have in common is a keen eye for what works in education and technology.”

With year-over-year sharp increases in entries, the 2013 program saw no shortage of quality workable technology solutions for education, according to Rivero. “As the industry has advanced, this year’s entries are among the best ever,” he said. “The market certainly has its challenges, but letting its bright spots shine is not only a real pleasure—it’s what will continue to drive it forward and help students everywhere.”

The program is comprised of the Cool Tool, Trendsetter and Leadership Awards. All entries fall into a subcategory under one of these three main categories.

Cool Tool awards recognize new, emerging and established technology solutions for education; the Trendsetter awards include notable people or products shaping the space, and the EdTech Leadership awards recognize outstanding forward-thinking contributions to learning and technology.

“We’re excited to honor these finalists who have all earned it, they deserve special recognition for their efforts and are highly commended for their work in education,” said Rivero. “The 2013 awards recognize both people and solutions in and around education for outstanding contributions in transforming education through technology to enrich the lives of learners everywhere.”
